The warmth of the sun has returned bringing with the promise of blossoms.

May’s full moon is called the Flower Moon, named for the abundance of blossoms that bloom during this fertile spring month. It’s a time of fullness, expansion, and expression, when what has been planted in the dark begins to show its color.

In 2025, the Flower Moon rises in the sign of Scorpio, the mysterious water sign that rules transformation, depth, and emotional truth. This moon carries a powerful invitation to face your shadows, honor your growth, and reclaim your inner power.

The May Full Moon is known by many names. The most common names are:

  • Milk Moon
  • Corn Planting Moon
  • Budding Moon

Flower Full Moon - May 12, 2025

Everything in nature is stretching, opening, and revealing its colors—and so are we. Spiritually, this moon marks a time of blossoming, abundance, and coming into your full expression.

This full moon reminds us that growth is not just something we strive for—it’s something we allow. Like petals opening under the sun, we are invited to shed hesitation, soften our defenses, and let our inner beauty be seen.

This moon is a checkpoint:

  • What has taken root in your life since spring began?

  • What parts of you are asking to be seen, nurtured, and celebrated?

  • What’s blossoming that you haven’t paused to appreciate?

The Flower Moon asks us to stop and notice: not just the progress, but the beauty of becoming.

What This May Moon in Scorpio Brings

In 2025, the Flower Moon arrives in the intense and transformative sign of Scorpio, casting a spotlight on our emotional depth, inner truth, and hidden power.

Scorpio is a water sign, ruled by Pluto—the planet of transformation, endings, and rebirth. When the full moon rises in Scorpio, it invites us into the underworld of our own psyche—the places we usually avoid, suppress, or hide. It doesn’t do this to overwhelm us—it does it to liberate us.

This moon wants you to feel it all, not because pain is the goal, but because truth is the path to healing. It’s a time when you may feel more emotional, reflective, or raw—and that’s okay. It means something inside you is being stirred awake.

Embrace the May Full Moon

This month’s crystal of choice is Black Obsidian.

Obsidian is a grounding and protective stone known for helping us see the truth—especially the truths we tend to avoid. It helps cut through emotional fog, release toxic patterns, and support deep shadow work with compassion.

Place it on your altar, hold it during meditation, or keep it in your pocket throughout the day to stay anchored and empowered.

1. Shadow Release Bath Ritual
Draw a bath with Epsom salt and a few drops of lavender or sage oil. Light a candle. As you soak, imagine old energy, grudges, or self-judgment dissolving from your body and aura. Let the water hold your grief, your questions, your breakthroughs.

2. Emotional Alchemy Letter
Write a letter to a part of you you’ve been at war with—a fear, a behavior, a version of your past self. Then, write a second letter as your highest self, offering love, forgiveness, or permission to let go. You can keep it or burn it safely as a ritual.

3. Speak a Secret Out Loud
Scorpio thrives in emotional honesty. Say something out loud that you’ve been holding inside—whether it’s to yourself, a journal, or a trusted friend. Naming the truth begins the healing.

Journaling to the Flower Moon

  • What emotional truth have I been avoiding that’s ready to be seen?

  • Where in my life have I given away my power—and how can I call it back?

  • What would it feel like to be fully honest with myself?

  • What part of me am I ready to release or transform?

  • If I could speak one truth under the moonlight without fear, what would it be?
